Useful Math Resources



This is a list of math resources collected from the college STEM students.
In case you don't know what is STEM, it is short for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics :)

1. All Level Resources (K12 - College)


There are some pretty organized math websites, which covers most of the topics from basic arithmetic to college math, such as Algebra or Precalculus.

Khan Academy 
Feature: Videos, cover all level of math topics, have good quizes

Math is Fun
Feature: Text file & pictures, easy to understand

2. College Math


Paul's Online Math notes
Feature: Nice class handout, cover first two years college math classes such as calculus, linear algebra and differential equations.

3 Blue 1 Brown
Feature: Videos, connect abstract math concept to graph. A good resource to enhance your understanding in the math topics, not recommend for first time learning.

MIT Opencourseware 
Feature: Lectures videos, some course has only handouts.

3. Graphing Tool


Desmos
Having trouble graph a function? Want to verify solution? Check it out.

4. Solving Anything


Symbolab
Can run several operations. I personally like to use it for solving integrals.

5. Something else you might want to know 


LaTex
LaTex is a tool to type math neatly. If you are a math student, you should learn this. I spent 6 hours to learn some basics and this pretty much covers my needs. 

I recommend checking Michelle's tutoring videos on Youtube

GitHub
If you want to write some code and show other people your work, Github is great place to do that. (Note this is not usually required for math students, but will be helpful when you look for jobs in industry)

I recommend checking Faraday's tutorials on Youtube.

Study Tips for math

A few study tips to share, hope it helps you study math more efficiently. 1. Budget your study time. The general rule of thumb is for every 1 credit, each week you will have about 1 hour in class time, and should have 3 hours outside of class to study.  So if you are taking a 4 credit class, each week you need 4 hours in class + 12 hours outside of class, which is 16 hours in total. Think about how many hours you will study each day throughout the week, write them down on a planner and try your best to commit to it. 2. Preview before class. Always read the textbook/handout before each class, have an idea what topics, definitions and theorems  you will learn in the class. By doing this, you can focus more on the part you don't understand in class. This will help you make best use of class time. 3. Always ask questions. When you have a question during the class, raise hand and ask for it. Don't be afraid because high chances are your classmates also confused. By asking questions...
